I credit my family with my interest in art. I have many artistically talented family members. I started drawing at nine years old but I really found my style — striking and bold — in high school. I like being able to catch someone’s attention from the corner of their eye with deep lines and vivid colors. One of my favorite things to do is inject a little wit or humor into my pieces that leaves the viewer with a little laugh. I would definitely describe my art as very surface level with only shallow hints of meaning, if any at all, behind it. Painting is fun to do, so the paintings should be fun, too!

I am drawn personally to pop-culture hits, such as Dragon Ball Z, Yu-Gi-Oh!, Pokemon, Star Wars and Lego Bionicle, as well as various manga. I leaned hard into art classes in middle and high school, studying a wide variety of media — photoshop to ceramics and everything in between. The style I liked the most was painting and drawing with Sharpies. I loved the eye-catching results of the combination.

I try to appreciate the small things. Not everything needs to be complex or bogged down with emotion. It is good to take a  moment in life to just slow down and be still.
