Photography is a unique art form. Photographs reflect the intersection of the photographer’s vision and the physical world. I’m drawn to the paradox of closeness and distance that happens when I make a photo. The camera can never show the same depth of beauty and detail that we perceive with our eyes. My task is to create something new from the raw material, to impart a meaning that is transformed once again by the the viewer. As artists, we seek to share our vision, yet we don’t know how it will impact others, what message our work will hold for the viewer. Despite this uncertainty, I continue to make art. Whatever the genre or subject matter, the excitement of this creative process is the same. Through art, I’m sharing some part of myself with the viewer.
