As a ceramic figurative artist, my work derives from the fascination of the human form, and the expressive emotions conveyed without saying a word. A posture, gesture or expression, which relates to us all as a sense of understanding ourselves and each other. The nonverbal communication which resonates beyond what language can convey.

The work which is created from this base concept requires both a contemporary approach and a feeling of antiquity. The themes I desire to convey need to be representational of fresh approach but timeless as to content.

My work typically is generated from earthenware, utilizing terra sigillata, washes and sgrafitto, techniques to give the appearance of the passage of time, like as an artifact. Yet the style of the actual pieces resemble more contemporary design of creating the human form.
